What is Atlex, really?
Atlex starts with the backbone of the legal profession: a smarter, more transparent way to generate and understand legal deadlines. Think Notion, but purpose-built for tracking legal deadlines and case data — without the clutter or confusion.
Legal professionals have long relied on homemade Excel spreadsheets, disconnected calendars, and tribal knowledge to manage their deadlines. Atlex replaces that chaos with a clean, structured workspace — part deadline engine, part lightweight case manager. It lets you track case information and associated deadlines in one place, without needing to code formulas or juggle platforms.
But Atlex's foundation is built for much more. Created by a student-loan-strapped legal professional who's lived the complexity firsthand, Atlex is designed to evolve — with plans for streamlined processes, community-built logic, crowdsourced insights, and eventually, intelligent AI-assisted legal workflows — all shaped by the real-world needs of the people who use it.
Who is Atlex for?
Atlex is built for legal professionals across the spectrum: attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, law clerks, law students, and educators. Whether you're in a solo practice, boutique firm, BigLaw, in-house, freelance, or still in training—if you work with legal deadlines, Atlex is for you. (Note: use is limited to licensed attorneys or those working under their supervision.)
What makes Atlex different?
Most legal tech gives you results without showing you how they were generated. Atlex is different: you define the logic behind your deadlines and see exactly how they're built. No opaque systems—just transparent, customizable logic sets that reflect how you work. Whether you're following a state code, a local rule, or a judge's standing order, you control the inputs, and Atlex helps you apply them consistently.
How does deadline logic work?
In Atlex, deadlines are generated from inputs: trigger dates, whether to include the trigger day or deadline day, how to treat weekends and holidays, and whether to apply extensions (like additional days for service). Say you're generating a response deadline that's "30 days after service" and the 30th day falls on a Sunday—Atlex will bump it to the next court day, unless a court holiday intervenes. And because rules vary by state, court, or even judge, you can tailor the logic to match your exact requirements. You define the rules once, and can apply and review them again and again.
Can I save and reuse logic?
Yes. Once you've built a logic set—such as how to generate a discovery deadline or motion timeline—you can save it and reuse it across matters. Think of it as your own custom rule library, built over time and available whenever you need it.
Is this just for deadlines?
Not at all. Atlex starts with deadlines because it's one of the most universal and stressful pain points in legal practice—but the foundation is built for much more: tasks, templates, AI assistant integrations, team collaboration, and eventually a full legal operations workspace. Deadlines are just the beginning.
What if I make a mistake in the logic?
You're responsible for verifying that any logic or deadlines generated in Atlex are accurate and appropriate for your case. Atlex provides a visual preview of each result to help you review the output before relying on it, but does not independently verify the logic or guarantee the correctness of results. Whether due to user error, system error, or a misunderstanding of applicable rules, you are solely responsible for confirming that each deadline is correct before use.
Is Atlex a law firm or does it provide legal advice?
No. Atlex is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. It's a tool for legal professionals to manage and streamline their own workflows. Use of Atlex does not create an attorney-client relationship, and you should always independently verify deadlines and compliance.
Is this in beta?
Yes. Atlex is currently in beta while we gather feedback, refine features, and expand functionality. This is your chance to shape the product. We're building this with legal professionals, not just for them.
How is Atlex funded?
Atlex is bootstrapped—no investors, no venture capital. Just a legal professional with a vision and a bunch of sticky notes. Subscriptions fund development and improvement. Every dollar goes toward making legal tech better, faster, and more human.
